The Burren journey continous

25th November 2013

About two years ago I started a little side project: A collection of photo essays on the Burren, a limestone karst area in the north of County Clare.
I have been exploring and photographing the Burren for almost 20 years, my first book 'The Fertile Rock - Seasons in the Burren' was a dream come true and the start of my career as a professional photographer.

Last year I started a (very short lived) photo blog to show the photo essays to an audience. Around the same time the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark assigned me for a series of photo shoots and eventually one thing led to another and late last summer my little side project was adopted by the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark to become the flagship book for the park.
The following months were filled with meetings, working out a concept for the book, talking to publishers, looking for funding... and thankfully a lot of photo shoots in the Burren to keep me sane.

Today is finally the day to officially announce 'The Burren - A Portrait of the Fertile Rock' project. The book will be co-funded by the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, the Collins Press and a Fund It campaign. If all goes to plan the book will be in the shops in spring 2015.
A lot of work has already been done but to bring the project to the printer and eventually into the shops we need your help: € 2750.00 need to be raised and to achieve this goal a Fund It campaign will run from today, through December and into the new year.
To keep you up to date on the progress we have just launched the Burren Picture website. The website features galleries, information on the Burren and the project and regular field reports.

I would be honoured if you would support the project and follow me on another Burren journey.

Photo comment By Geraldine Greene: Love your work. I have most of your books. I need a bigger house to own and keep more books! A digital version or DVD might fit better! Indeed I could produce my own book/DVD of Burren photos as I've 1000s taken over the years to though admittedly not top quality like yours. No doubt I'll get your book as a Christmas or birthday present. G
